Whiteboards, Glassboards & Pinboards

Dispatching from local warehouses in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA & SA

We offer a full range of whiteboards. These include a good quality and reliable economical range, to a more robust extra heavy duty option with porcelain surfaces specifically designed and manufactured for high use environments such as educational and training facilities.
You can have your white board surface permanently printed with a design of your choice, and we also have a range specifically for school use with term and year planners pre-printed. Our pin boards are available with a fabric surface that blends in easily with most decors, or a more traditional cork surface.

Glass boards are becoming increasingly popular, and offer a more contemporary look whilst still being cost effective. Glassboards are available off the self in various standard sizes and colour options like black and white, or we can have them made to a specific size or colour at your request. We can even have them printed with any design of your choice eg company logos or rows and columns, and even spreadsheets. Our glassboards are painted on the reverse side with magnetic paint. This ensures the working surface is easy to write on (using the correct pens), and also makes it magnetic so that you can attach notices to the front using magnets. As with all our furniture, we have large stocks of our standard size whiteboards, pinboards and glassboards located in warehouses throughout Australia, enabling us to deliver to you quickly and safely. Are you shopping for whiteboards or pinboards, but have no idea what one to choose? Then you’ve come to the right place! We will show you how to buy the right whiteboard for your needs and you’ll find plenty of great options. This advice will save you time and simplify the buying process. Whiteboards and pinboards are an excellent tool for setting up a project so everything is on the wall for everyone to see clearly. Having a whiteboard in each office or room is a good idea to increase productivity and organisation.

Whiteboard Buying factors to consider

How will you use your white board, glass board and pin board?

Consider the type of projects and uses of your work boards to figure out the right options to buy. Boards come in different sizes and material types, which means making a choice can be a little more difficult if you don’t know the intended use.

Want to buy one and figure out the use later? It’s not the best strategy because you may not choose the work board that’s optimal for your needs or office space. Therefore, visualise the board in action ahead of time to make the right buying decision.

Whiteboard, pinboard or glassboard?

The first choice you need to make is if you will choose a whiteboard, glassboard or pinboard and here are reasons:
• Whiteboard: these boards are ideal for when you need to write things down. You’ll be using your first hand writing skills frequently and you have the freedom to draw. Whiteboards provide the flexibility to draw what you need without restrictions. You can also rub out mistakes, but you need to buy the right pen so that it’s easier to remove. Choose magnetic whiteboards for added functionality.
• Glassboard: These have a similar function to whiteboards, but are a little more upmarket and modern. They are available in many different colour options, and also magnetic. Please note though, that you really should use special glassboard marker pens for the best results.
• Pinboard: these are for used mainly for pinning notes, but also increasingly popular for their acoustic properties, absorbing noise and reducing room reverberation. They’re also very popular for adding a little colour around the room, as they can be made to order in many fabric colour options and custom sizes.

These are the biggest differences between the different options, which should help you make the right choice.

Size of Whiteboard

The size of the board is one of the main buying factors. It depends on your requirements and the amount of space you have to work with. Smaller office spaces may benefit from a smaller board so that it doesn’t overwhelm the space and look cramped.
Consider buying several smaller boards so that you have the freedom to dot them around the office space. Boards can be taken down and installed without much effort. Therefore, you can move boards around an office, or purchase additional ones as your requirements change.

Whiteboard Durability

Consider how much force a board can take before it begins to show signs of wear and tear. It’s especially important if you plan on moving your board around the office frequently. Our products come with a very good commercial warranty, which means you can buy with peace of mind. If you do notice any manufacturer inconsistencies or broken parts, then please let us know straight away and we can organise a replacement for you.

Whiteboard Special features

Boards might come with special features such as magnetic surfaces or subtle grids. These give you more functionality to create a presentation that’s impactful and effective. Furthermore, boards can come with tools such as pins and markers. The inclusion of these special features provides more value for the price.
Whiteboards can also come with rules and other equipment to help you draw on a large scale. Imagine trying to find a ruler in your room that is big enough for a whiteboard – it would be a hassle.

Whiteboard Price

How much money do you have to spend on a whiteboard? There is no need to spend on a premium model, if you only use it occasionally and can get the same work done on a cheaper one. We provide some of the best value for money on the market for boards.

Larger boards that may offer more durability are as a rule of thumb more expensive. Therefore, buy a smaller board if you’re on a tight budget. You can always buy more boards in the future when your needs arise and you have the budget.

Comprehensive Guide to Whiteboard FAQs

In Australia, the use of whiteboards is indispensable in various locations—Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. White boards are used for teaching, brainstorming, project discussions and learning. The following FAQs have important tips and points that will be useful to teachers and educational professionals in these locations.

FAQ

Q. Do I really need a whiteboard in the digital age?

A. Yes! Sure computers are great, but the boards provide the flexibility to share ideas quickly and no training is required. You don’t have to train an employee to learn how to use a whiteboard, but with PowerPoint that’s not the case.

Q. How do I know what white board size I need?

A. Get the tape measure out and put it on the wall. Try to visualise how much room you’ll need to get your ideas across on the board and not what the measurements are. Then take a look at the board measurements in the product description. We provide a large range of sizes so you have the freedom to choose what works for you.

Q. What are the advantages of a mobile board?

A. The mobile boards that we sell can be moved around on a stand. This gives you the freedom to move the board freely around the office. Therefore, you can give the same presentation in different rooms on the same day without drawing the same content several times.
They also pivot, so you get the benefit of having two writing surfaces to use.

Q. Do you have magnetic Whiteboards?

A. Yes, take a look at our range of magnetic boards, which are manufactured from standard duty components, and our heavy duty porcelain whiteboard options. The magnetic strength is good enough for most objects that are typically placed on work boards

Q. Which whiteboards are best?

A. The best whiteboards offer a smooth, durable surface for writing, easily erase without ghosting or staining and are made of durable, non-porous materials, such as porcelain (vitreous enamel), glass or melamine. Seek boards with a sturdy frame and backing. The ‘best’ board for you depends on your needs and budget.

Q. What is the difference between a whiteboard and a dry erase board?

A. Whiteboard and dry erase board mean the same thing. They are both generic terms for that smooth, glossy whiteboard on which you draw with a dry-erase marker. We use the terms interchangeably to refer to the same object—there is no difference. Dry-erase markers from any brand should work on all whiteboards/dry-erase boards.

Q. Why do whiteboards cost so much?

A. High-end whiteboards are made of premium, long-lasting materials like porcelain (vitreous enamel), tempered glass, or melamine. The blended materials, along with aluminium framing, premium mounting hardware, and high-end accessories, all bump up the price. Ultimately, a good whiteboard will save you money in the long run because you won’t have to replace it regularly like cheaper whiteboards.

Q. Why do mathematicians not use whiteboards?

A. Most mathematicians would prefer blackboards/chalkboards over whiteboards for the following reasons: Chalk writing is slower, thus giving more time for thinking and it is easier to partially erase a chalkboard. Some people find chalk less tiring to read than a marker. Also, chalk doesn’t dry out like a marker, and a blackboard conveys a classical academic aesthetic. Still, most mathematicians happily write on whiteboards as well. For many, it’s a matter of taste.

Q. What are whiteboards used for?

A. Whiteboards are used for presentations, collaborating and brainstorming, leaving messages and reminders, teaching and tutoring, and planning projects and schedules. They can also be used for calculating and working out problems, sketching and diagramming, projector screens, and, last but not least, for the kids’ drawing and playing.

Q. What material is used for whiteboards? What is the raw material of whiteboard?

A. Whiteboards are commonly made from:

  • Melamine – plastic film adhered to MDF board
  • Porcelain – vitreous enamel fused onto galvanized steel sheet at high temperatures
  • Glass – tempered glass sheet, often coated
  • Painted steel
  • Laminate

The backing is typically a steel sheet or MDF board. Frames are usually aluminium or timber.

Q. Why whiteboard is better than blackboard?

A. Whiteboards have several advantages over blackboards. They are brighter, contrast and visibility are better, markers make less dust than chalk, and the surface is easily wiped off with an eraser or a cloth. Whiteboards are lighter in weight and more portable. You can use any colour marker you want, and there is no screechy sound like that of dragging the chalk.

Still, blackboards have their unique benefits, so the best choice depends on the user’s preference.

Q. How do I choose a good whiteboard? How to check whiteboard quality?

A. When deciding, consider the surface material (porcelain steel or glass is rugged), flatness (avoid warps), erasability (should wipe without leaving stains), smoothness (smoother surfaces are easier to write on), frame (choose sturdy aluminium), and back (must be seamless and the most stable option is steel or high-density fibreboard).

Also, consider size (it should be the largest one you find for your walls and budget), accessories (some also include mounting hardware, erasers, markers, and trays), and warranty (longer warranties generally mean higher quality). Try writing and erasing if possible. Check if it wobbles or has loose fittings, dents, or scratches.

Q. What is the lifespan of a whiteboard?

A. A properly maintained, quality porcelain whiteboard can easily last for 10-20+ years – some have a 25 year warranty on their writing surface, while cheaper melamine boards usually only last 1-5 years before needing to be replaced.

Q. Are there different types of whiteboards?

A. Yes. The main types are melamine, painted steel, porcelain-on-steel, tempered glass, and laminate. Within these categories are different sizes, aspect ratios, frames, and mountings (wall-mounted, mobile/rolling, flip-charts, desktop easel). Digital ‘smart’ whiteboards are also now available. The best type depends on your needs.
